Why the world needs Christ
It’s clear something is wrong with the world. From lovers’ tiffs to natural disasters, we see many examples of a messed up world.
The Bible says this is because we don’t obey God. His plan meant we’d be perfectly happy. However, we turned away from him causing the Universe to go into a downward spiral. Turning away from God is called sin.
Christ is a Greek word given to someone anointed for a particular task. Despite the world having turned against him, God loved it so much he anointed a man to set people free from the power of sin and the punishment rightly bestowed on it. This man was God become man.
Who was Christ?
Two thousand years ago a popular preacher named Jesus claimed to be the the Christ (John 4:25-26). All his life he talked about being killed for the sake of others (Mark 10:35).
He was arrested by religious leaders but made no attempts to escape (Mark 14:46-49). Instead he willingly went to a cross and died. On that cross he bore the punishment we deserved (1 Corinthians 15:3).
Three days later he rose from the dead, as witnessed by hundreds of people (1 Corinthians 15:4-8). This demonstrated that God accepted him paying the price for our sin. Just as he was raised, so he will raise those who trust in him (1 Corinthians 15:20-23). One day he will return to judge the world (John 5:28-29). If you turn from your own way and start following him, believing he died for your sin and was raised from the dead, you will be saved by him on that day (John 3:16; Acts 2:37-30; Romans 10:9).
